Holy crap, we're a good looking couple!

We took this picture of ourselves at the Rod Run. It makes my heart happy that after being together almost 13 years we still enjoy each other as much as we do. I love you, honey.

Run, Ethan, Run!!!

Every year Ethan's school holds a run-a-thon called Rail Ranch Runs. The kids all run around the track at school to raise money for field trips ( didn't the school district use to pay for those??) Ethan ran on Friday the 13th and he did AWESOME!! He came in second place, running 18 laps. 18 laps equals 3 and 3/4 miles! WOW!! Who would have thought that a kid that I gave birth to would have the ability to run that far in 30 minutes? He said he only stopped on lap 10 to catch his breath. We're so proud! And all of his grandparents are sponsoring him and sending him money. He even got a cool gold medal. All I have to say is that next time we miss the ice cream truck I'm throwing my money at Ethan and telling him to run his little legs off and go get me a Snow Cone.

March 14th, the newest holiday on the calendar

To the majority of people, March 14th is just another day. To some people it may mean that there's only 3 more days left until they dress like a leprechan, pretend to be Irish and drink until they get so shit-faced that they forget their real name and start referring to themselve as John O'Studly.

Nope, March 14 is a new holiday, and if you're interested in finding out about it, read here: http://www.steakandbjday.com/

Let's just say that after I told Travis about our new found holiday he became an even happier man. Now I wish I hadn't opened my mouth ( no pun intended)

When you love beer THIS much

It pays to buy the economy size

How do I love thee??

Some might say the Valentines Day is overrated, that it's a "retail" holiday that forces people to buy stuff they don't need just to prove they love another person. Yes, I can see that point of view, but I don't agree with it.

Travis has always been awesome to me on Valentines Day. He's actually pretty awesome to me most days of the year. The exception would be on those days that I bug the living shit out of him and make him wanna pull what's left of his hair out. But yes, he loves me pretty much 24/7. He doesn't really NEED to go buy me stuff for V-Day, but he does. He does it because he knows it means a lot to me and that alone shows how much he cares. I always tell him that I'd be happy with just a hand written love letter, but somehow I always get more than that.

Travis is a rare breed. He stopped buying cards for me, he now makes his own. He puts his own personal touch on the cards and I can't tell you how happy that makes me. I know that when he gives me a card there aren't 2,000 other ladies in California getting the same card as I am.

This year he not only made my card , but I got chocolate covered strawberries ** I might add that he ate most of them**, flowers, and singing balloons. But the greatest of the gifts was a bag of red and white personalized M-n-M's that said: TRAVIS-n-SHAWNA TOGETHER FOREVER. I admit that I haven't eaten them yet, I'm afraid to. They're too pretty to eat. But the funniest thing was that when I opened the gift bag and pulled out M-n-M's, Faith yells out, "FOR MY POOP!?!?!" because that is her prize of choice for when she goes poop. It was pretty funny!

And because I love my man, I got him Slim Jims and Raisinets for V-Day. :o)

Just me and you

Twice in the last month Travis and I have gone on a date. Our babysitter is home from college so we have to get out as much as we can when she's here. Both times we went to Chilis, sat at the bar and ordered Coors Light on tap and greasy burgers. It was perfect! There's something to be said about hanging out with your best friend at a bar, chatting away about things not having to do with your kids. 15 years ago I would have thought sitting at a restaurant bar with only one person would have been way too boring for me. But not now. It was a great way for us to reconnect with each other, and all spouses should do that once in awhile. To help us remember the fun we had, Travis took these pics with his iPhone.

call me crazy

In 3 months I am flying by myself to Las Vegas to meet a group of girls I've never met before. Crazy, huh? You might be asking yourself what kind of demented person would do such a thing. Well, I would.

When Faith was a newborn I was having a lot of issues with her crying from 4-7pm every night, and all she wanted to do was nurse that entire 3 hours, and when my nips couldn't take it any longer she'd cry hysterically. I didn't know what to do. I didn't have anyone close to me that had recently nursed a baby so I didn't have anyone to get advice from. I just happened to be reading my Parents magazine one day and there was a little blurb about their website having message boards for new parents. I thought it might be a good idea to jump on there and ask someone, anyone, on what to do about this little sucker-fish using my boobs as an all-u-can-eat milk buffet.

And that's where it all started. Come to find out, LOTS of women out there needed advice with new babies, and some of the women just needed a shoulder to cry on or a listening ear. Over the course of the next 3 years I remained a member of that message board. Over time I grew attached to a small group of the girls that seemed to mesh really well with my sense of humor and my parenting styles. A small group of us broke away from the main message board and created our own, and it's been well over a year now that we've been really close friends. We send birthday presents to each other, we do a gift exchange every Christmas, we pool together money for baby shower gifts, we sent used clothes to each others' kids and we call each other on the phone to make sure they're alright if we haven't heard from them in awhile.

But I've never met them.

So we bit the bullet and decided to plan a meet-up. Vegas was the obvious place for a meeting like this. We need a place to let loose *no kids or husbands allowed*, and a place that will provide us with lots of memories. Vegas will provide it all for us.

I haven't been this excited about a trip to Vegas in a long time. I'm counting down the days, because it's not everyday you get to meet someone for the first time that you consider one of your best friends.
